Skype Exclusivity With Verizon and How That Makes Skype Not Reliable

While ago, Skype released their Android version of client. But what’s so surprising? They went exclusive with Verizon Wireless. This is very stupid move of Skype, and even if you have capable Android device, you’re excluded, if you are not with Verizon.

Actually, I wouldn’t have been unhappy if Skype has kept their Skype Lite version.

On the aforementioned support page, Skype stats:

Unfortunately, Skype Lite – a version of Skype for your mobile phone – and Skype for Windows phones are no longer available for download from our site.
We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones. Our focus is on providing a rich user experience that allows you to enjoy free Skype-to-Skype and low cost calls as easily on the move as you do at your desktop.
We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones were not offering the best possible Skype experience.

Am I reading this right? Is Skype telling me that no experience is better than some experience Skype Lite may have offered? How can they offer improved mobile experience by taking the service away? As far as I’m concerned I could talk with someone, send and receive message using Skype Lite. How can they claim not being able to do those improved mobile experience? That’s not a rich experience!

If Skype truely believes customer feel better having no service at all rather than having service, I think they should all quit and find someone better managing their company, really.

I think it’s my time to evaluate value of retaining Skype service. (I am monthly paying member, too.) It’s not there are no alternative. Google Voice is getting better and better.

If you are with Verizon and own Android device, enjoy while you can, as perhaps, next time, Skype will be signing exclusivity with other carrier, and they will have your service taken away!
